Overview
Founded in 1958, Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), is the world leader in business aviation. The Company has produced over 1,200 aircraft for corporate, government, private and military customers around the world. The Company's flagship products -- the Gulfstream IV-SP, the Gulfstream V and the new Gulfstream V-SP -- are the world's most technologically advanced business aircraft. In 1997, Gulfstream introduced a new era in the history of business aviation with the Gulfstream V, the world's first ultra-long-range business jet. The Gulfstream V features the most sophisticated technology available to support the rigorous demands of intercontinental missions. From the unique engine design and highly advanced communications capabilities to the cabin that offers maximum passenger comfort and flexibility, the Gulfstream V continues the Gulfstream legacy of innovation and high quality. Powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines, the Gulfstream V's ability to travel non-stop for 6,500 nautical miles at speeds up to Mach 0.885 sets the benchmark for world travel. Now in its fourth year of customer service, the Gulfstream V routinely flies non-stop business travel between destinations such as Aspen and Rome, London and Singapore, San Francisco and Moscow and New York and Tokyo. In February 1998, Gulfstream and the GV Industry Team were awarded the prestigious 1997 Robert J. Collier Trophy by the National Aeronautic Association. To date, 109 Gulfstream Vs are in-service worldwide and have set 69 world and national records.

In October, 2000, Gulfstream announced the next-generation Gulfstream, the GV-SP. The aircraft will offer greater range, the largest cabin area in the ultra-long range business aircraft class, additional baggage volume, a greater weight allowance and the most advanced avionics suite in the industry. Rapid progress is being made in its development program and the first flight of the aircraft is on target for the fourth quarter of 2001.

The Gulfstream IV was first introduced in 1985 and approximately 99 percent of the GIV fleet remain in service today. The Gulfstream IV-SP, is the world's best-selling large-cabin business jet and enjoys an impressive record for technical performance, safety and reliability. To date, the GIV fleet has accumulated over 1.4 million hours of flight time and boasts an impressive dispatch reliability rate of over 99 percent. The GIV/IV-SP holds 74 world and national records.

Over 135 Gulfstream government and military aircraft are currently in service with 33 nations in a variety of roles such as photo reconnaissance, maritime surveillance, medical evacuation, weather research and astronaut training. The Gulfstream IV-SP and Gulfstream V robust construction and reputation for reliability allow these aircraft to be used for challenging special missions without sacrificing the Gulfstream performance advantage. For example, a Gulfstream IV-SP is used as a hurricane tracker for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Gulfstream IV-SP's efficient short-field operations also make it popular for medical evacuations.
