That tradition of excellence was continued when Smith Personnel Solutions opened its doors in 1991 to provide a light industrial, warehouse and assembly workforce to major corporations accross the state. Today, we provide skilled industrial, clerical, customer service, management and technical candidates, as well as onsite staffing services.

Evaluation
Prior to placement, SMITH temporaries undergo extensive evaluation to ensure proper placement. Smith can provide copies of reference and background results to your company on all assigned temporary employees. Methods to ensure proper placement include:

Application and Resume Review
Staffing consultants review the candidate's job application and resume to determine job stability, education, and experience that may affect the individual’s ability to perform the job. Successful applicants whose qualifications match current staffing requirements are scheduled for a personal interview.

Personal Interview
Through one-on-one interviews, SMITH consultant evaluates each candidate's work ethic, flexibility, and ability to communicate—while asking pre-established questions to determine whether a candidate's experience and career goals are truly compatible with a particular customer's need. SMITH interviews all applicants in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and gives equal opportunity for employment to all qualified individuals.

Reference Checking/Verification
Thorough reference checking is an important component in the evaluation process, and consultants are trained to carefully interview any individual giving a reference.

Legal Right To Work Status Verification
All temporary employees must complete I-9 right-to-work documentation as a condition of employment. The completed forms are maintained at SMITH local branch office in compliance with statutory requirements.

Previous Employment Verification
Inquiries include the following areas from a minimum of two previous employers:
  • Employment dates, salary, positions held, duties performed
  • Attendance, punctuality, dependability, professionalism, general attitude
  • Quality of work performance
  • Level of teamwork and cooperation exhibited
  • Eligibility for rehire

Drug Policy Acknowledgment and Testing Capabilities
SMITH gives each of its employees a copy of our Corporate Policy on A Drug-Free Workplace. All employees who are to be considered for assignments with customers who specify drug-free workplace guidelines and testing are also required to acknowledge the customer's drug and alcohol policy by signing a letter and an Agreement Regarding Drug Testing form which provides consent for the employee to be drug tested.

temporary employees arrive at customer facilities with a solid understanding of the job requirements and goals and are ready to perform their work safely and in accordance with pre-determined quality standards. General Information Policies and Procedures Safety Training/ Documentation are completed prior to assignment.

will facilitate replacement of personnel and quick response to time-sensitive job requests by maintaining a pre-qualified (screened, tested, and oriented) pool of temporary workers in categories most frequently requested by your company.
