GRACE ACQUIRES CATALYST COMPONENTS BUSINESS AND CUSTOM CATALYST ASSETS FROM BASELL
COLUMBIA, Maryland, June 2, 2006 – W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA)announced today that it has acquired the custom catalyst manufacturing assets of Basell, USA, located at Edison, New Jersey, as well as Basell’s components business. The business will be integrated into the Grace Davison operating segment.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.Polyolefin catalysts and catalyst supports are essential components in the manufacture of resins used for a wide variety of industrial and consumer plastic applications. Grace Davison is a leading global provider of specially-designed,high performance catalyst systems and catalyst supports.The acquisition expands Grace’s product portfolio and increases Grace’s polyolefin catalyst manufacturing capabilities.
Grace Davison has been expanding its specialty catalyst product group with the strategy of becoming a full range catalyst solutions provider, most recently acquiring Single-Site Catalysts,

Davison Chemicals fluid cracking catalysts, hydroprocessing and polyolefin catalysts are crucial in transforming hydrocarbons into consumer goods such as gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel and plastics.
Our fluid cracking catalyst additives and automotive catalysts help industries meet and exceed environmental regulations. Raney® catalysts synthesize organic compounds in fibers, pharmaceuticals and plastics. Specialty catalysts are designed for custom processes and applications.
Our chromatographic media, columns, and packing services are used for drug development and production.
Our silica gels and molecular sieve adsorbents enhance manufacturing processes and end products in a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, from digital printing to paints and plastics, and toothpastes and edible oils.
