Tom Gill began his career in 1976 with GM in Columbus, Ohio where he started washing and checking in vehicles off the truck. Over the next several years he climbed his way up the corporate ladder with and by 1996 Tom Gill he had officially announced his purchase of Suburban Chevrolet. Once Tom Gill took over ownership of the dealership he immediately began upgrading the service/parts departments, which had a history of loss. If fact Tom Gill shut down the service department for a week after Christmas to allow the EPA to bring the department up to code, but still paid the employees their full salary. With all of these changes came questions. Employees were concerned about their jobs and their futures with the dealership. Tom put their fears to rest by his philosophy “Give me a change, I’ll give you a chance.” Tom’s dedication and hard work still rings true today with the most recent remodeling and expansion of the service and collision centers.
