Overview
The company was established in 1907, the year that Karl von Linde built America's first air separation plant and started a major new industry in the United States. Since then, striking advances have taken place in the industrial gases industry, not only in production and distribution methods, but also in applications technology and services. Today, under the name Praxair, Inc., 26,000 employees serve customers in 50 countries.

Praxair customers are very diverse. Praxair’s gases and technologies help steel furnaces burn more cleanly, keep potato chips fresh longer, fuel space craft, put the fizz in soft drinks, contribute to cleaner-burning gasolines, and help produce computer chips, to cite just a few examples. We also supply gases for scientific research and health services, as our products are used to freeze blood and tissue, for respiratory therapies, and for magnetic resonance imaging.
