Medical Records Technician

Job Description

 

  • Files patient information to correct file and closes patient files according to procedures.
  • Develops deficiency lists as necessary.
  • Responds to previous treatment requests from other treatment facilities relating to  the discharge of patients.
  • Performs designated typing of confidential reports, meeting minutes, etc.
  • Assists in the maintenance of an alphabetical and numerical cross-referenced index card file of patients.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Experience

 
Typing speed of at least 60 wpm
Must possess superior knowledge of medical terminology.

 

Education & Training


High school graduate or equivalent.

           

 

Licensure, Certification & Registration

 

CPR Certification.

                                                                                                                      

Other Requirements

 

Superior computer and typing skills required.

Good verbal and written communications skills.

Ability to be flexible in adjusting to new and rapidly changing situations.

Must have ability to remain calm in emergency situations.

Ability to work well with others as a member of a team.
