Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager

Senior Electrical Project Manager Needed: Immediate job opening for one our San Jose office. Min. BSEE, 12 years experience working with consulting engineering firm as Electrical Project Manager, PE preferred.  AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.  Recent employment experience with an Electrical Engineering consulting firm in the construction industry, or with a design-build electrical contractor required.  A highly motivated self-starter with exceptional communication and computer skills is required to lead our design staff to meet established budgets and client expectations.   Experience must include specification writing, client meetings, proposal writing, cost estimating, and management of engineer/designer and cad operator level staff members.  As the Electrical lead, Candidate should be able to design all aspects of the electrical system if required.  Project Manager will be responsible for completing projects within established design budgets and meet project deadlines.  Candidate must be flexible with project schedules and must have a strong ability to prioritize.  Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  Experience in Mission Critical, Microelectronics, Educational, or Hospitals is a plus.

The selected candidate will have demonstrated competency in the following:

• Client interface and primary point of contact.
• Maintaining positive client relations through communication and professional service.
• Management of overall project budgets.
• Preparation of proposals for electrical engineering services.
• Effective meeting minutes and action item tracking.
• Review of all discipline drawings for coordination.
• Completing project tasks within established design budgets.

In addition to project manager skills, successful candidate must have a demonstrated skill level at electrical engineering including:

• Detailed Electrical power and lighting system designs and component selections. Electrical distribution designs include standby and emergency generator power and UPS systems.
• Performing short circuit studies using SKM software.  Generate electrical load calculations for service sizing and preliminary distribution design. Having basic knowledge of power system coordination is preferred.
• Selection and layout of primary and secondary distribution systems up to 21kV.
• Editing construction specifications for a given project.
• Providing rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates of construction costs.
• Ensure that our quality assurance procedures are implemented during design process.
