Summary:
The overall purpose of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist position is to assist the development and implementation process of new and modified assays for use in the lab. This includes providing insight to assay design, participating in development efforts and contributing to the validation process. The preferred candidate possesses a strong understanding of biology (as it relates to Oncology), laboratory techniques and clinical lab practices. Additionally the incumbent may participate in projects that fall outside of the clinical lab. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the evaluation of new technology platforms when the opportunity arises. This CLS will manage the development and implementation of new and modified assays for use in the Lab.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Additionally, this position will play a role in training lab personnel, troubleshooting assays and collaborate/communicate with various team members and other departments
Provide technical support to the lab team as well as clinical lab staff
Ensure all assay requirements and specifications are met
Participate in the validation and implementation of new assays
Technical liaison to other departments
Adhere to regulatory requirements for all projects within the lab as well as those associated with clinical diagnostic products
Participate in projects leading to discoveries with commercial potential in clinical reference lab space
Provide support to research collaborations, clinical trials and other projects
Provide communication/collaboration with departments outside of the lab
Train peers within the department as needed
Represent the R&D department in diverse settings within and outside of the Lab
