Unix Citrix System Admin - East Hartford CT. 06108

Job Description




  • Install and configure Linux environments including virtual machines.

  • Some of the Linux distributions Include Citrix XenServer (CentOS), Debian, Ubuntu and RedHat

  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures

  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.

  • Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created

  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.

  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.

  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies.

  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.

  • Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

  • Develop standards for testing and deploying patches to Linux systems.

  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports the CDS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

  • Perform vulnerability assessments and mitigate vulnerabilities found.

  • Necessary knowledge and skills

  • Linux certification LPCI-3 required before hiring http://lpi.org/linux-certifications/programs/lpic-3

  • Demonstrate skills and 7+ years of experience managing, troubleshooting, and tuning Linux systems

  • Linux networking configuration and troubleshooting.

  • This including experience with using Wireshark or equivalent and understanding of TCP/IOP packets to aid in troubleshooting networking issues within a Linux environment

  • DNS, SMPT, LDAP and NFS configuration

  • Storage configuration.

  • This includes data replication using drbd or equivalent, high availability using heartbeat or equivalent and data backups

  • User configuration and security using Samba and Kerberos with LDAP and Active Directory

  • FreeRADIUS configuration experience is a plus

  • Python, Perl, Bash and Shell scripting is a plus

  • Puppet and Chef is a plus

  • Nagios configuration experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of XenServer, CloudStack, KVM virtualization technologies is a plus If we cannot find someone with ALL these skills in a week or two, then we will settle for a well-rounded LINUX person with an aptitude for learning.
