Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will serve as s Senior Systems Engineer/Architect in the Navy/Air Force Systems Datacenter and Cloud Computing group designing, testing, and fielding secure enterprise information technology systems for military/government customers. This role also include customer interface at a leadership level and resource coordination responsibilities. The ideal candidate is one that will be able to represent GDIT NAFS DCS as a lead systems engineer on military/government programs from both a technical and programmatic perspective.
This candidate will be responsible for designing, engineering, configuring, installing, testing, and documenting system architectures of enterprise network, computing and storage systems. Candidate will have the ability to generate design concepts from customer requirements and objectives. Also, this candidate will be able to apply configurations to routers, VPNs, GRE tunnels, proxy and stateful firewall products using a host of TCPIP protocols such as BGP OSPF. The candidate will to install, configure, and maintain Unix and Microsoft servers, VMWare (and/or similar hypervisors), base services (DNS, AD, NTP, etc.) and enterprise management applications tools. In addition, the candidate will participate in design reviews, support security certification and accreditation efforts using the DIACAP process, and Develop proposals, tradeoff studies and cost estimates.
The Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise to project teams and must have technical knowledge and experience in design and implementation of IT systems and networks incorporating one or more of the following technology areas: Enterprise Servers, Virtualization, Gigabit Ethernet, routers, firewalls, and enterprise management applications. The prime responsibility of this position is to design, integrate, and test enterprise management products within the network, computing and storage infrastructure of datacenters.
The following experience is highly desirable:
� Engineering and program experience within the DoD, especially within the DON, USMC, and/or USAF.
� Experience with formal engineering process
� Understanding of the DoD DIACAP Process and Information Assurance requirements.
� Experience building detailed technical design packages for the DoD including rack elevations, network run lists, server run lists, software and server configuration documentation, etc.
� Experience developing position papers and presentations (Analysis of Alternatives, Engineering Change Proposals, etc.) to educate and persuade customers and colleagues to make appropriate engineering decisions.
� Experience leading and performing technical site surveys and consulting sessions.
� Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service implementations and cloud computing architecture design and implementation
� Experience with cloud management software such as VMWare vCloud Director, OpenStack, CloudStack, etc.
� Experience with automated deployment and configuration tools such as VMWare vCloud Director, HP Server Automation, HP Network Automation, HP Operations Orchestration Opscode Chef, Puppetlabs Puppet, etc.
� Experience with ITSM tools such as BMC Remedy ITSM Suite, HP NNMI, HP BAC, HP OMW, HP OO
� A positive, team-oriented, proactive, solution-oriented approach
Required Education:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
Required Work Experience:
8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
Ideally 8+ years of experience in network/systems analysis, design and/or support.
Experience working within the Department of Defense is preferred
Other Desirable Requirements:
Required: US DoD Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain a DoD Interim Secret security clearance prior to commencing emplyment.
Requied: CompTIA Security+ certification, or acquire within 30 days of employment.
Please Note: 20-60% travel requirement. CONUS and possibly OCONUS.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
