Job Description

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Salary Grade: 4
FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt

Summary: The person should have details technical knowledge/hands-on in electrical (analog/digital, motors, controls, etc.), mechanical (A/C, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.) and welding. Will perform and coordinate activities of a mechanic engaged in maintaining and repairing plant machinery and tools. Furthermore should perform other production process areas to ensure production plans are executed accordingly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Repair and maintain machinery, order and stock parts as needed, complete scheduled projects, work within budgets while adhering to OSHA regulations (e.g., Lockout/Tagout).
•Perform duties as outlined in established Job Safety Analysis and National Quality Standards.
•Organize and/or stock raw materials in the work area, follow departmental housekeeping requirements, and leave the work environment and equipment clean at the end of shift.

Education/Experience
Maintenance experience (3 to 5 years) in a production environment and knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred. Welding, fabrication, and electrical knowledge required. Experience with equipment repairs in a bedding manufacturing plant preferred.

Job Factors/Work Environment
Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement. Work environment includes a clean and safe work area, exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials, and limited chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards and is supplied by the company.

Oversees all aspects of maintenance departments by performing the following duties:
•Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on electrical motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
•Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
•Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
•Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
•. Minimizes downtime via training operations & production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
•Maintains supplies inventories by managing inventories to determine/anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
•Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
•Maintains safe and clean working environment by adhering to company policies and state, federal and local regulations.
