Provides direct nursing care to residents to meet both the physical and emotional needs of each resident.  Allows residents to function at maximum capabilities and communicates with resident in a respectful, empathetic manner so that the resident’s individuality and rights are promoted and maintained.

Delivers direct nursing care to each resident, appropriately provides nursing intervention requiring the use of professional nursing judgment and responds promptly to emergency situations. Supervises and directs nursing activities for residents assigned to the nurse during his/her shift. Completes the nursing assessment and resident identification record and uses the nursing process to establish and document a nursing care plan upon the admission of the resident. Participates on a continuing basis in the development and revision of written care plans for residents as outlined in nursing procedures.  Attends to all residents of the facility who may need medical or emergency assistance.  Completes proper medical documentation.
