In conjunction with this agreement Intel Corporation (through Intel Capital); Google Inc.; Comcast Corporation; Time Warner Cable Inc; and Bright House Networks have collectively agreed to invest $3.2 billion into the new companySenior Tax AssociateThis position will be a team member of the Clearwire tax department and will focus on ensuring that Clearwire Corporation and its subsidiaries are in compliance with all state and local authorities related to telecommunication tax, sales and use tax.Responsibilities
  • Work with Tax Manager to ensure the company is in compliance with all sales/use tax reporting obligations.
  • Work with Tax Manager to research and document the applicability of sales/use tax on Clearwire purchases
  • Prepares account reconciliations and conducts account analysis of all general ledger accounts related to the filing of all telecommunication and sales/use tax returns, for all entities of Clearwire Corporation in a timely manner and in sufficient detail to meet internal control guidelines.
  • Work with Tax Manager and marketing teams to research and document tax questions and issues related to Clearwire product offerings.
  • Responsible for researching and responding to notices from State Tax Authorities.
  • Assists with the requirements surrounding Sox 404 compliance.
  • Implements policies and procedures for multi-state compliance of sales and use tax, telecommunication, tax.
  • Calculates, tracks, and generates payments for USF fees, and surcharge fees.
  • Tracks, updates and monitors company shared data files related to tax rates and other tax related materials.
  • Responsible for the application of new state and city sales tax registrations.
  • Performs other accounting and financial reporting functions as needed.
  • Participates in internal and external audits - interacts with auditors and prepares reports.
  • Maintains the sales tax exemption certificate file.
  • Manages tax billing requirements through Vertex Q series and CommTax Series software programs.Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Candidate must have at least 4 years of sales/use tax experience.
  • PC Skills: Excel, Word.
  • Candidate must be able to use tax research tools to resolve and document complex state and local tax issues
  • Experience with a state & local tax group at one of the “Big 4” accounting firms is a plus.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is detail oriented, self motivated and able to provide problem resolutions.
  • Is approachable, responsive, and able to communicate effectively.
  • Enjoys taxes and compliance work.
  • Is able to work independently and as a team member
  • Can follow work flow, re-evaluate and reassess for necessary process changes.
  • Is highly organized and sees projects through to the finish.
  • Follows established policies and procedures and supports core values
  • Can handle fast-paced, potentially high pressure environment.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of accounting operations and state tax laws.
