Current Need
The McKesson Provider Technologies (MPT) Compliance Officer is accountable for working with MPT Senior management to assure the planning, development, implementation, and management of effective Compliance, Ethics, and Records and Information Management (RIM) programs throughout the MPT business units.
- The person in this role builds and maintains relationships across the business units and strategically influences business partners, as necessary.
- This person will need to collaborate and consult effectively with other corporate functions such as the Global Compliance and Ethics function, Law Department, Human Resources, Information Technology, Corporate Security, Information Security, Regulatory Affairs, and other Business Unit Compliance functions.
- The MPT Compliance Officer will oversee/coordinate and serve as program manager for all aspects of the MPT-wide compliance and RIM programs.
- The MPT Compliance Officer will: consistently demonstrate the highest integrity; appropriately maintain confidentiality; be an effective communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrate a willingness to learn and work in a team environment; efficiently multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities; project manage and coordinate the implementation of various compliance efforts and programs, including change management where needed, and set the tone for compliance throughout the business units.
Position Description
The MPT Compliance Officer will work with senior management of the business unit to plan, develop, implement, monitor and manage programs and internal controls to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and McKesson standards and ensure that the business unit consistently demonstrates all indicia of an effective compliance program.
The MPT Compliance Officer will assure MPT business units comply with Federal and state laws, and applicable industry regulations, including, regulations and requirements applicable to the business unit, e.g., HIPAA, state privacy and security statutes and regulations, federal and state funded health care program requirements, FDA regulations, and payment card regulations. The focus of the MPT Compliance Officer will be operationalizing compliance within MPT.
More specifically, the MPT Compliance Officer¿s responsibilities will include planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and managing:
¿ Written Compliance, Ethics and RIM policies and procedures
¿ Effective training and education such as policies and procedures
¿ Effective lines of communication
¿ Internal monitoring and auditing of MPT business units operations in conjunction with oversight by the Law Department Regulatory and Compliance team¿s Auditing and Monitoring Function,
¿ Compliance risk assessments
¿ Effective controls and metrics that enable management to ensure operations are meeting compliance obligations
¿ Well-publicized disciplinary policies and guidelines that will enable management to consistently enforce standards
¿ Rapid response process to enable management to respond to detected problems and undertake corrective action
¿ Specific RIM responsibilities include, but are not limited to: facilitate and support discovery efforts; facilitate development, implementation and update of Records Retention Schedule; administer and maintain inactive physical media stored on- and off-site; administer and maintain McKesson Inactive Records Database; update and maintain data maps; facilitate resolution of RIM escalations.
To effectively lead the development and implementation of applicable policies/procedures, the Director must understand the legal, business, compliance, records and information management, and Human Resources implications of each area to be addressed and coordinate and guide these and other functions as required.

- Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-divisional teams or solving cross-functional/cross-divisional issues in a manner that not only demonstrates both strategic and tactical thinking, but also in a manner that builds, maintains, and enhances a positive working relationship
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Practical experience in writing and implementing policies and procedures
- Ability to tolerate ambiguity and to remain flexible under pressure
- Ability to reflect and maintain integrity
- Ability to acclimate and be successful in the business unit culture
Minimum Requirements
The position requires a minimum 10 years of experience in either Compliance or Compliance-related functions, or equivalent work experience. Proven success in compliance and RIM program management for a minimum of five (5) years in a large institutional setting is strongly preferred. Applicable industry experience and experience with HIPAA compliance, health care fraud and abuse, and FDA regulations are desired.
Education
An undergraduate degree from an accredited four year college is required.
A Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation is desired.
