Overview HealthCore's History

HealthCore originated as the clinical research and health outcomes unit of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware. Since becoming an independent firm in 1996, HealthCore has supported biopharmaceutical manufacturers, payors and health professionals. Our focus remains providing evidence of the real-world safety and effectiveness of therapeutics; insight to best utilize this evidence; and communicating these findings to health decision-makers (patients, clinicians, payors). Increasingly, our work supports evidence-based medicine, process improvement and patient-reported outcomes.

After three years as a strategic partner, in 2003, HealthCore was acquired by WellPoint Health Networks, which merged with Anthem, Inc. the following year. As a result of that merger, WellPoint, Inc., HealthCore's parent company, became the country's largest private health network. As an independent subsidiary of WellPoint, HealthCore has unprecedented access to medical and pharmacy claims data, including laboratory results and other chart-level data. Our ability to leverage these data is the cornerstone of what we do. Discussions and results are proprietary to individual clients.
