Overview COIT Cleaning and Restoration Services, Inc. is an international specialty cleaning company with franchises in the United States, Canada, and Thailand. Since its inception, over half a century ago, Coit has grown into one of the largest specialty cleaning companies in the world.


Our History
In 1950, in a small storefront near Coit Tower in San Francisco, Lou Kearn founded the company as a dry cleaner, with the then unique specialty of drapery cleaning. His shop flourished, and he developed several patents in the area of drapery cleaning. At the same time, he began our policy of guaranteeing our work. This too proved to be a major innovation as dry cleaners, particularly the few offering drapery cleaning services, were generally hesitant to take such a risk.

Both of these decisions proved to be just what our customers wanted, and in 1962 the first COIT franchise was sold. This spurred phenomenal growth in the company, and by the 1970s expansion into other major service areas, such as carpet cleaning and HVAC cleaning shaped the company into its current form of a full-service provider.

Since that time COIT has continued to flourish as a franchise based organization, expanding our business beyond the borders of the United States. Despite this, COIT has remained a family owned company with a close-knit corporate culture and a strong commitment to serving our customers.
